Hiram, Ohio- The women’s basketball team pulls off a huge
win against Oberlin 53-50 at today’s game. The starters for the Terriers were
Sarah Berger, Sierra Day, Rachel Ellis,
Brianne Goodrich and Allison Vannoy. Oberlin started the game right off the bat
with a 2 pointer. Kaylee hit the first three of the game in the first quarter.
The score was 8-12 at the end of the first quarter. The game was very back and
forth.
In the second quarter the terriers
seemed to have trouble getting points on the scoreboard. Oberlin had a better
offense then the terriers in the first half. Oberlin ended up in the lead 26-18
at the end of the second quarter.
Coming into the second half the
Terriers momentum skyrocketed compared to the first half. Allison Vannoy hit an impressive 2 jumper to
bring the game 24-28 at 7:20. Shortly after Jones hit a jumper bringing the
score then to 28-30 just trailing behind Oberlin. Towards the end of the 3rd
quarter, Dana Perrotta stole the ball twice within 20 seconds giving the
Terriers the opportunity to get points. The gymnasium was extremely loud as the
girls took the lead 45-41 with 3:17 left in the game. The girls ended up
pulling off a win.
This win means their one step
closer to making Hiram Women’s Basketball history! There next game is at
Denison next Wednesday as they continue to look forward to making history.
